Sakura Theme And Variations by Yokoh Yuquijiro

Classical Guitar: Nguyễn Đăng Thảo

Sakura is a very popular Japanese folk song depicting spring, the season of cherry blossom. This piece I would particularly like to dedicate to the Japanese VICTIMS OF THE EARTH QUAKE AND TSUNAMI in the hope that the SPRING AND CHERRY BLOSSOMS WILL COME BACK TO THEIR LIFE AGAIN.

The song is arranged for Guitar by Yukihiro Yoko who uses different guitar techniques to imitate the sound of the koto. The translation of the lyrics is:

Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms,

On Meadow-hills and mountains

As far as you can see.

Is it a mist, or clouds?

Fragrant in the morning sun.

Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms,

Flowers in full bloom.

Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms,

Across the Spring sky,

As far as you can see.

Is it a mist, or clouds?

Fragrant in the air.

Come now, come,

Let’s look, at last!
