Characterizing the Vietnamese culture is the presentation of the tangible and intangible traditional cultural characteristics from the origin to the present in order to help the readers, especially the young people, to identify the Vietnamese culture. The culture of the Hùng Vương era was characterized by the following specific writings: Skirts, Chopsticks, Stone Dog, Betel and Areca. In the period of independence, Vietnam began to enter the Far Eastern cultural house. During this period, the cultural centre of the countryside was the community hall (Đình) and the pagoda characterized by Village Meal, the “Nghê”, while the national cultural centre was the capital city of Thăng Long characterized by the following specific writings: Tết, Tết Pole, Tết Meal, Ancestral Altar, Ancestral Worshipping.
